Website: http://www.phunkn.com
Message: Heya, I'd like to say thanks very much for featuring my site in this article:

http://www.sohtanaka.com/web-design/accordion-toggle-elements-icon-placement/

But I've just recently updated my site design and no longer use the accordion. However I have placed my old design at this address which you can still link to.

perhaps there's a case for right aligned if it comes at the end of an extensive heading (or introductory paragraph, or part thereof), which would then only catch the users attention if they had enough interest to follow the whole text and wanted to know more.....eg like a (more) button.

"John

great post! I can’t believe you’re giving this info away for free!
'
you're kidding, right?? I've seen comment spam, forum signature spam, and even referrer spam! ...first time I've ever seen "brown nose spam" ! lol :)
wow

yah.. I must say I dont see where icon placement on an accordion really has to merit a post all its own (albeit given away for free, lol) but I DO like the site overall. Regarding this post- must be a slow news or brain freeze day!

I don't think it's right to label a definitive way of applying the technique. As stated above, it depends on the design and audience. For instance, I have seen Marius Roosendaal's website mentioned many times in many blog posts and don't believe I've ever heard anyone mention dislike towards the accordion's icon placement for the website. As long as it's a noticeable factor in the design, it should will work.

I would say that in most cases they should be on the left however, it should be evaluated in every design as I can see an argument for putting them on the right if the rest of the content placement supports it.
