Google Chrome Review

Just last week, Google released their newest product, Google Chrome (Google’s very own browser - Learn more). Now I have always been a fan of Google, but this brought up a concern regarding the browser competitions that went on in the past years (Netscape, Safari, Fire Fox, IE, Opera, etc).
For the typical user, this may just be exciting, but for web designers and developers, some are probably frowning on this new product. As much of a pain it is to deal with Internet Explorer’s and other browser’s common bugs and issues, now we must attend to Google Chrome’s. To fully get a feel of this new product I downloaded it myself and tried it out.
These are some things that came in mind.
Pros
- Wide full screen, a lot of the unnecessary tool bars and icons have been removed.
- It definitely feels faster
- Nice bookmarks, allows you to bookmark easier and more organized
- The tabbing has been more organized and customizable.
- The “Incognito” mode was pretty clever.
Cons
- Some sites won’t render correctly (Cross browser issues)
- No additional add-on features yet (I’m sure its coming soon)
Conclusion
In conclusion, I still feel Google has much refining to do, but overall I did not dislike this new browser at all. It was clean, fast, and had a lot of improvements from the other browser, but it does make it a chore forĀ us developers and designers, introducing another browser to cross browser test. I can say I will not be using Google Chrome over Fire Fox 3, but in my opinion, this may be a good direction for Google and its new product.
